Visa Application

International students must hold a Non-Immigrant Education Visa (Non-Imm ED) in order to stay and study in Thailand. Applications should be submitted to any Royal Thai Embassy or Consulate before departing to Thailand.

Required Documents:

1.Visa application form
2. Passport, with a remaining validity of not less than 6 months
3. Two recent (4x6 cm) full-face photos
4. Letter from the relevant faculty addressed to the Royal Thai Embassy/Consulate
In order to get the letter, students must attached the following information to the faculty via e-mail;
  • Passport ID (pdf form)
  • ID photo (jpeg or png form)
  • Full name of Royal Thai Embassy/Consulate that the student is going to apply for the NON-Imm ED VISA
  • Student's full address and type of files the students need (e-docs only or both e-docs and paper copies)
  • Any related documents (if any)
5. Letter of acceptance from the faculty or admission announcement from the Graduate School, CMU 
6. Any additional attachments required from the Royal Thai Embassy/Consulate as deemed necessary e.g. tuition fee receipt

Visa Extension
International students with student visas (NON-Imm ED) and international staffs with working visas (NON-Imm B / RS / O) must obtain certificate and supportive letters from the universirty each time they apply for a visa extension.
The applicants are able to extend their VISA for 45 days (and 30 days for work permit) before the expiration. Please contact the International Affiairs officer at least one month before the expiration in order to get the documents from the university.

Required Documents:

2. Passport and a copy, with a remaining validity of not less than 6 months
3. Copy of VISA page and stamps since the arrival until the current expiration
4. Letter from the university addressed to the Immigration Bureau
In order to get the letter, the applicants must attached the following information to the faculty via e-mail;
    • Passport ID (pdf form)
    • The VISA information and stamps since the first arrival until the current date (pdf form)
    • ID photo (jpeg or png form)
    • Student ID number and email address (for students only)
    • Any related documents (if any)

5. Transcripts and study plan (for students only)
6. Two recent (4x6 cm) full-face photos
7. Any additional attachments required from the Immigration Bureau as deemed necessary

Note:
- After finishing the process, please inform the latest visa (and work permit) expiry date to the department administer or international relations officer
- The applicants with working visas need to apply for work permit extension before applying for visa extension

Work Permit

QUALIFICATIONS OF AN APPLICATION
(for first time application or reapplication due to expiring)

1. Having residence in the Kingdom or having permission to stay in the Kingdom temporality under immigration law (only NON-IMMIGRANT VISA is acceptable).
2. Having the knowledge and/or skills to perform the work as stated in the application for a work permit.
3. Not being insane or mentality sick, suffering from Leprosy, Tuberculosis, Drug Addiction, Alcoholism, Elephantiasis and Tertiary Syphilis.
4. Never having been imprisoned for violation of the immigration Law or the Working of Alien Act at least one year prior to the date of application.

Required Documents:
Please arrange documents in the following order;

1. Completed WP.25 Form with 3 of (3x4 cm.) photographs (taken within 6 months, computer / Polaroid printing are not allowed)
2. Form of the employment certification duty filled out.
3. Passport and one copy of all pages or Certificate of Permanent Residence and Certificate of Alien with a copy
4. Copy of the applicant's education certificate or the determination form duty filled out
5. A copy of occupation or profession license, in case which is prescribed by the related law
6. Medical certificate showing that the applicant does not suffer from prohibited diseases, as item 3 of the above qualifications. (issued within 1 month).
7. A Power of Attorney made by applicant with 10 Baht duty stamp affixed and a copy of grantee's ID card
8. A Power of Attorney made by the employer with 10 Baht duty stamp affixed and copies of employer's and grantee's ID card.
9. Letter from the university issued to the Provincial Employment Office

In order to get the letter, the applicant must attached the following information to the faculty via e-mail;

    • Passport ID (pdf form)
    • The VISA information and stamps since the first arrival until the current date (pdf form)
    • ID photo (jpeg or png form)
    • Employment contract from the faculty
    • Applicant's phone number 
    • Any related documents (if any)

Work Permit Renewal

International staffs with working visas (NON-B / NON-RS / NON-O) must apply for work permit and visa extension at the same time. They must obtain certificates and supportive letters from the university each time they apply for the extension.
The current visa must have at least 25 days left before its expiration.
Please refer to the VISA extension section for required documents and contact the International Affiairs officer at least one month before the expiration in order to get the documents from the university.

Required Documents:

1. Completed WP.25 form
2. Work Permit and a copy.
3. Form of the employment certification duty filled out.
4. Passport and a copy or Certificate of Permanent Residence and Certificate of Alien with a copy.
5. Medical certificate showing that the applicant is not insane or mentality sick, suffer from Leprosy, Tuberculosis, Drug Addiction, Alcoholism, Elephantiasis and Tertiary Syphil.is (issued within 1 month).
6. Documents as stated in the conditions of work in the Work Permit. (lf any)
7. Power of Attorney made by applicant with 10Baht duty stamp affixed and a copy of grantee's ID card
8. A copy of employer's lD card (Thai employer) or a copy of employer's Work Permit (foreigner employer)
9. Letter from the university issued to the Provincial Employment Office

In order to get the letter, the applicant must attached the following information to the faculty via e-mail;

    • Passport ID (pdf form)
    • Work permit (pdf form)
    • The VISA information and stamps since the first arrival until the current date (pdf form)
    • ID photo (jpeg or png form)
    • Employment contract from the faculty
    • Applicant's phone number
    • Any related documents (if any)

Remark

(1) Any documents in foreign language other than English must be translated into Thai and certified by an academic Thai native speaker. All the Forms have to be fitted in Thai.
(2) Every page of the documents belongs to the company need to be certified by the authorized person or the appointee with company seat. Every page of the documents belongs to applicant need to be certified by the applicant themself or the appointee.

After fie application is completed, the process will finish within 3 working days.

If the applicant is leaving the work due to the end of contract, resgination, etc. , please inform the faculty at least 1 month prior in order to proceed with the work permit cancellation. Otherwise, the applicant will responsible to pay for the charge from not informing (up to 20,000THB)
